EMA
Erika M. Anderson has been writing and producing music on an international stage for the past fifteen years. She has released albums, singles and film scores to critical acclaim, earning accolades everywhere from The New York Times to Der Spiegel. NPR called called her “one of indie music’s great world builders.” Anderson’s music has been used in film and television, and she has scored two full length feature films, #Horror and Mi Chiedo Quando Ti Mancero.
EMA has been the producer or co-producer on all of her critically acclaimed albums. In 2015 she scored her first feature length film, #Horror, starring Chloe Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne. Produced by Urs Fischer with visuals by Tabor Roback, it was released by IFC Midnight. The film also included an original song, “Amnesia Haze”, and the score is available across all digital platforms.
In 2019 she was contacted by award-winning Italian director Francesco Fei to score his upcoming film MI CHIEDO QUANDO TI MANCHERÒ, based on the cult novel Wonder When You’ll Miss Me by Amanda Davis. Anderson used autoharp, slide guitar, analog synths and digital processing to create a dreamy yet sophisticated palette for the teenage protagonist. The score also included two original songs written for the film. “Mi Chiedo Quando Ti Manchero” debuted at the Rome Film Festival in 2019 and the release has been rescheduled to 2021.
THEME SONGS
Beyond her ability to create soundscapes and instrumental motifs, Anderson has also written bespoke theme songs directly for film characters. Her songwriting experience allows her to build songs for complex women and girls from a place of authenticity.
EMA songs have also appeared in the films Jamie Marks Is Dead and Unforgettable, as well as on television in “How To Get Away With Murder”, “Good Girls” “SMILF”, “The Good Wife”, “Circus” , “Startup” and two episodes of the animated Adult Swim series “Off The Air.”
